Sera Giannone Reflects on Breakthrough 2025 Season at Sunset Speedway

The 2025 season was one of growth, perseverance, and achievement for Sera Giannone, driver of the #04 Bone Stock at Sunset Speedway. What began with uncertainty and self-doubt evolved into a year filled with progress, confidence, and pride — capped off by a top-five finish in championship points.

“Like anyone else, my season had its ups and downs,” Giannone reflected. “For the most part, it was a very positive season with a lot of growth as a driver. I struggled with anxiety during the first half of the season, which affected my confidence on track, but as the year went on it became easier to manage. By the end of the season, I felt confident running with some of the best drivers out there and had some great door-to-door battles for position.”

That perseverance paid off, leading to what Giannone describes as one of her best years yet — both personally and competitively. “I’d give my season a B,” she said. “I kept showing up even when my mind told me not to. I kept pushing to learn and be a better driver. I took pride in running hard and clean against my competitors, and this season went better than I could have ever imagined.”

Her determination led to two standout moments that defined the year. “The first was when I started on pole and held it for a lap and a half — the feeling was unreal to keep up with some of the best,” Giannone said. “The second was championship night. I had one of my best runs to date and was surrounded by all my favourite people celebrating a top-five points finish. It was emotional because, at the beginning of the season, I had no hope of even being in the top ten. My confidence and anxiety made me believe I didn’t belong up there, so to finish fifth made me really proud of myself.”

Off the track, the #04 team will now enjoy some well-deserved rest before preparing for the next chapter. “This off-season, we’ll be working on the car to get her beautiful again, spending time with family and friends, and taking some time to relax after a busy summer,” Giannone shared.

Looking ahead, 2026 will bring a change of pace. “I’ll be taking a step back from competitive racing,” she explained. “We plan to run an outlaw schedule and visit a few tracks here and there, but I’m looking forward to spending more time with family and doing some camping.”

Giannone expressed deep gratitude to the many people and organizations who supported her during her rookie campaign. “A huge thanks to Nick for the countless hours spent building and maintaining the car week in and week out. To all my friends and competitors who offered kind words and advice — it meant more than you know,” she said. “Thanks as well to JoMo Media and Stickers N’ Scuffs for promoting drivers and highlighting our biggest moments, and to Ladies of the Oval for creating a space for women to be recognized in a male-dominated sport.”

She also extended her appreciation to her 2025 partners: 360 Repairs and Maintenance, Tooley Welding and Fabrication, Copeland Property Maintenance, Rustoleum, and Steve’s Custom Graphics. “Thank you for believing in me and coming on board for my rookie season,” Giannone said. “I hope I made you proud.”

As she reflects on a season filled with learning and self-discovery, Giannone hopes her journey can inspire others. “To anyone who feels like they don’t belong or think they can’t do it — take the jump,” she said. “Believe in yourself. Don’t let doubt stop you from reaching your dreams, because it’s possible.”
