The 2025 season at Sauble Speedway was nothing short of a rollercoaster ride for Bone Stock competitor Kody Cooks. Facing early-season challenges, battling through adversity, and ultimately finding strong progress, Cooks looks back on the year with optimism and determination for the future.
“It was really a whirlwind season,” Cooks explained. “There were a ton of ups and downs throughout the year. We battled through some issues with the car early on in the season, but we continued to push through and made good progress every single race. Right until the bitter end, I was still improving, scoring my fastest lap of the year on the final night.”
Although the season closed on a sour note, Cooks remains undeterred. “The season ended on a poor note for me, but that’s not going to stop me next year!” he added.

Self-Assessment & Growth
Looking back, Cooks graded his season as a solid “B.” While satisfied with his progress, he admits the first half of the season tested both his patience and resilience.
“I had a great year with lots of improvements, but I struggled early on with all the issues we were dealing with,” said Cooks. “I was pretty hard on myself and the team during that stretch, so that’s something I want to work on for next year.”

Building for the Future
With the 2025 campaign behind him, Cooks is already looking ahead. The offseason will be a busy one as his team begins constructing a brand-new car from the ground up to avoid the setbacks that hindered the start of this past year.
“Personally, I’ll also be settling into my new career as an Ironworker and enjoying life outside of high school for the first time,” Cooks noted. “But at the same time, I’ll be focused on getting our Honda Civic ready for 2026.”
Cooks confirmed he will return to Sauble Speedway next season to compete once again in the Epic Racewear Bone Stock Division.
A Season Highlight
Despite the obstacles, the 2025 season was not without its shining moments. For Cooks, the biggest highlight came later in the year.
“The highlight of the year for me was definitely my heat win,” he recalled. “It had been a while since I’d been in victory lane, so it was a nice refresher of that feeling. It was also a big mood boost after all the challenges we faced at the start of the year.”

Gratitude & Support
Cooks was quick to recognize the people and partners who made his season possible.
“Special thanks goes first and foremost to my parents for all their hard work, and to Kevin Daneluk and Dave Chappel for their mechanical help,” Cooks said. “Of course, none of this would be possible without the support of my amazing sponsors.”
