JoMo Media Drivers Recap: Opening Weekend Action!

The first official weekend of the JoMo Media Driver Recap is in the books, and we’re kicking things off with a look at our time at Sunset Speedway, where we caught up with driver Jacob Sutcliffe. We’ll also take a lap around the province to check in on how the rest of the JoMo Media crew fared at tracks across Ontario.

🔥 Jacob Sutcliffe Fires Off at Sunset

Jacob kicked off his 2025 title defense in the Mini Stock division with a strong start. Right out of the gate, the car was dialed in and Jacob was fast in both practice sessions, feeling confident behind the wheel.

In Heat #1, Jacob started P4 and wasted no time making moves. He powered up the high side of Sunset Speedway, grabbed P2, and set his sights on the leader. After some tight racing, he made the pass and checked out, picking up his first heat win of the 2025 season.

That win came with a twist—Jacob pulled a 7-car invert, setting him up in P7 for the 25-lap feature. He gained two spots early before a caution flew on Lap 10. On the restart, he jumped up to third, where the battle heated up with none other than his brother, Wyatt Sutcliffe. Despite several attempts, Jacob couldn’t get around him and ultimately brought it home in P3.

A great points day for Jacob and the entire Sutcliffe Brothers Racing team as they begin their quest for back-to-back Mini Stock championships.
