Catch Up With..... Dale Millard

The 2023 season may not have been what Dale Millard wanted but it wasn't short of excitement. From racing part time to working on the Wallace Racing #45 driven by Kaitlyn Wallace it has been adventurous season. Dale stepped back from Full-Time racing at the end of the 2021 season to take on a crew member role within Wallace Racing. Near the end of the season we would see Dale go out and purchase one of the top running mini stocks in the province from Cole Quinton. Dale was set on running an outlaw schedule in 2023 racing Sunset and Sauble on top of running part time at his home track of Flamboro Speedway.

Dale was to start his season with Flamboro Speedways Spring Fever Mini Stock Invitational. Due to mother nature not being a fan of racing in 2023 the event got pushed to the May 24 weekend. For Millard the 2023 season was a bit of up and down. Dale is hoping 2024 will play out a bit different with a possible points run somewhere in the province.

At the beginning of the season most drivers will set out goals they would like to accomplish for their seasons. While Dale found success running up front against the top guys at Flamboro including Mike Thomson. Dale did enjoy the season as he didn't have to stress of having the car race ready week after week. "The hardest thing for me was going to the track and watching from the pits most nights". Says Millard.

Dale ventured up to Sunset Speedway for the Allan Lankin Memorial Mini Stock. For the #8 Mustang it was a good and bad day. Dale only had one practice session to get used to the track before qualifying. Which proved costly as Dale missed qualifying in by two spots so would be relegated to the LCQ and would have to race his way into the feature. Given that 41 cars showed up for 24 spots it Dale knew it was going to be a dog fight to get int the main show. Dale would make it into the big show starting 23rd but unfortunately his night would be over early as he would be involved in an accident which ended his day and the car.

Dale would get back to the drawing board though to close out the season as he alongside Ken Wallace re-clipped the front end and worked on the geometry of the front end to help the car. Dale brought the car out for a test session during championship night in preparation for this weekends Frostoberfest presented by London Recreational Racing at Flamboro Speedway. This week Dale will strap some new rubber to the car and make a couple small adjustments to be fully prepared for Sundays portion of the event card. Dale is aiming for a top-10 but knows it will be a tall task, "I feel I maybe have a top 10 car for sure given the caliber of drivers and cars that will be in attendance". Dale is making sure he has the best possible car to compete for one of the provinces most covenant trophies that gets handed out to at Frostoberfest and that is the igloo.

This offseason Dale is unsure what his plans will be. Some much need R&R as well as spending time with family and friends will be at the top of his list. With the race season being quick and grueling on a person it will be nice for Dale to take a step back from working on race cars to enjoy other activities before the 2024 season.

Dale would like to thank his sponsors for their support in his 2023 season
