Cam Thomson Caps Off a Long Season with First Sprint Car Victory

For Cam Thomson, 2025 was a season that tested endurance, determination, and passion for racing like never before. Competing across dirt and pavement with his #28T CT Racing Crate Sprint Car and the #85 LLB Racing Canadian Vintage Modified and Pure Stock, Thomson’s year was full of long nights, hard work, and one unforgettable moment in Victory Lane.

“This season was long, to put it simply,” said Thomson. “The lack of rainouts made for a grind every week just to get two — sometimes all three — cars ready. I definitely bit off more than I could chew this season! That being said, even though the pavement season didn’t quite go to plan, the dirt side of things went really well.”

Racing weekly at Ohsweken Speedway, Thomson found speed and momentum as the year progressed, closing out the season with a career highlight — his first Crate Sprint Car feature win at Merrittville Speedway. “That win was definitely the highlight of the season,” Thomson said. “We got really close a few times, but racing luck had different plans. To finally pull it off at the end of the year felt amazing.”

Despite the high point, Thomson admits the season came with challenges. “I’d give this season a C-minus,” he reflected. “We fell short of a top 10 in Ohsweken points, which stung since we finished ninth last year. On the pavement side, nothing seemed to want to work right this year!”

With the off-season underway, Thomson is shifting focus to preparation and reflection. “My plans for the winter are about the same as always,” he said. “I’d like to get the sprint car ready for the March car show, so that means not taking too much time off!”

Looking ahead to 2026, changes are on the horizon. “Next season is a bit uncertain,” Thomson admitted. “2025 didn’t go quite how I planned, so I’ll be scaling things back. I’ll be back weekly at Ohsweken and travelling with the sprint car operation, but I think it’s time to hang up the helmet from full-time pavement racing. I do plan to build a new Bone Stock to share with friends and family, but my main focus will be on the sprint car program.”

Thomson was quick to thank the supporters who make it all possible: Kool Kids Ice & Water, Driving with Hailey, Level Up, LLB Racing, DJD Gear, DJD Graphics, Jensen’s Automotive Detailing, JoMo Media, and Hill Bros Racing.

“As always, I wouldn’t be able to do half the things I do every summer without these beautiful people behind me,” he added with a smile.

After a long, demanding, and rewarding 2025 campaign, one thing’s clear — the #28T team is fired up to keep building momentum. With a new focus and a first win now under his belt, Cam Thomson is ready to chase even bigger goals in 2026.
